ISDN switch off
BT’s copper-based PSTN & ISDN network has already begun shutting down and will be completed by 2025
Get Ready!
The ISDN2e and ISDN30e have been around since the 80’s and was the most up to date telecommunications technology of the time allowing both voice and (very slow!) internet to run simultaneously over copper-based digital lines.
BT made it public in 2017 that they were phasing out ISDN, stopped taking orders in a phased process between 2020 & 2023 and announced that they will be switching off the network in 2025.
All traditional business communication systems (PBX’s) run off this network so we can’t underestimate the importance of reviewing your existing telecoms as quickly as possible.
All Change!
Hosted & Cloud-based telephony uses high-speed data services to make/receive audio and video calls rather than legacy copper-based lines.
This technology has already been adopted by many businesses across the UK. Maintenance costs are greatly reduced since there is no longer a ‘box on the wall’ and local, national and mobile calls are usually inclusive.
